Dr. David Johnston, DO is a board-certified osteopathic physician. His extensive background in osteopathy, combined with his training in a whole-body approach to health and wellness, brings unique insight to patient care at Whole-Body Medicine in Fairfield, CT.
A graduate of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, he was a recipient of an undergraduate teaching fellowship in Osteopathic principals and practice. He completed a medical internship at the Good Samaritan Hospital and studied at the highly regarded osteopathic residency program at St. Barnabas Hospital.
Dr. Johnston has had additional training in hands-on Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) for infants, children, adults, and seniors. He studied extensively on Biodynamic approaches to Osteopathy with Dr. James Jealous, DO. A Biodynamic approach focuses on patient healing through the Primary Respiratory Mechanism. He has also studied functional and nutritional medicine. Most recently Dr. Johnston attended post-graduate education in the relationship of temporomandibular joint dysfunction as it relates to spinal problems; this knowledge will be valuable in co-treatment with Dr. Mark Breiner’s dental patients.
Continuing his education of tick-borne diseases, Dr. Johnston has recently returned from the Annual Scientific Conference of ILADS (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society). Coursework included evidence-based medical approaches for diagnosing and treating tick-borne diseases.
Board Certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Dr. Johnston also holds a special certification in Cranial Osteopathy. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Holistic Integrative Medicine. Dr. Johnston is an associate faculty member of the Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation.
